With respect to batteries dependence on China for materials is being designed out. Li Sulfur batteries like Lyten.com use zero Chinese materials. LFP batteries use zero cobalt and nickel. Even China is designing out expensive materials. China lock on graphite? Replace graphite anodes with Li metal or high density Silicon. Improve iron air batteries. Recently Stanford demonstrated new technology to extract Lithium with lower cost. In the US three lithium deposits discovered offer the world’s largest deposits of lithium.

On the motors and generators. This is more of an issue however new designs minimize dependence on rare minerales.

Military equipment. This is a problem area but I don’t know what is being done about it.

Dependence on oil for vehicles is being designed out. EV trends are continuously improving price and performance.

Etc. the value of rare earth materials is significant. However the value is evolving.
