Why cool innovations lag, adoption is at a slow pace. Of course the answer is a combination of tribalism and most innovations are not stand alone. They have positives and also negatives. Medicine cures but has side effects. Clean energy is better, cheaper but lowers my 401k stock. Or I am busy with many competing issues with higher priorities.

My tribe believes that climate change is a hoax. So any innovation sold as a solution is a hoax.

EV s are good examples. Yes better for the environment. But they are also better to the economy as electric power is cheaper and offers more stable fuel prices and supply. So to expand EV adoption you need promotion of benefits that fit tribe republicans.

Innovations that are better from an economic sense don’t appeal to folks who are driven by other values then best performance per dollar.
