We, the collective we, need motivation to do what we can. So promote how much cost we save as a parallel benefit to lower pollution. You want to move away from fossil fuel faster right?
In the U.S. converting to electric power for light vehicles and trucks will save more then $540 billion per year in fuel cost alone. Solar and wind electricity are cheaper but need an investment in grid to capitalize. And it is an investment with a positive return. Half the nation thinks climate change is inevitable. So ok let’s win them over based on cost.
As to consumers buying stuff to buy stuff not sure how to move that out of consumer mindset. Education can help. Ideally there is a path to an eco system where less is more.
