Voting for President- What is at stake?
Why is the presidential election important? Good to keep top of mind and what we might need to remind folks of who are busy with other stuff besides politics. Some sample issues are described below. What messages should be promoted and how to word it. What should be the priority.
The President can promote laws but of course congress has to create them. However, he can also veto proposed laws. On this point the current president, Biden, and first two years of congress were aligned to speed up the use of EVs and conversion of coal and natural gas electric power to wind, solar and grid storage like batteries. They also passed spending bills to build up the US infrastructure and the Inflation Reduction ACT. Both of these investments will pay back the USA in reduced costs, in fact, they are investments with a high rate of return. In short, we get back more money than we put in.
The President also manages and sets priorities for government agencies such as the EPA, FDA, and Federal Labs like DARPA, NSF, foreign policy like support or not for Ukraine.
The President also appoints the Supreme Court and Federal court justices.
Here are some simple examples of why the next Presidential election will be important to you.
