This is a good development and the use in grid storage is a massive market. However the article is not accurate on two points. Current expected life of EV batteries using Co Ni is 300,000 to 500,000 miles. An LFP alternative is cheaper, last longer and at 260 mile range is good enough for 90% of EV use cases. Having said that yes the new Na Cl concept could replace the current generation of batteries. Their are several technologies in development, any one of them would be a more than 2x leap in performance/ price.
