My view is some progress is possible if the individual is shown a conflict with their own values so they leave the cult or tribe. Abortion rights is a good example.
In the meantime it is better to shift to distributed energy away from oligarchy oil control by Russia and Middle East extremism. Or would you like periodic disruptions of energy and wars fought over oil?
There are net benefits to clean energy in terms of lower costs, lower health risks from pollution other CO2 and the technology is evolving. Wind turbine blades are now recyclable, battery chemistry shifting to sodium, iron, phosphorus, away from lithium cobolt and nickel.
You need to consider the evolution of clean energy to cheaper, less environmental impact while no progress is expected in term of oil.
Changing culture is a separate issue.
