There's room for innovation in all energy sectors.
Of course.
However the pace of battery innovation is quickly shifting the environmental cost of production and life cycle cost. LFP batteries in production today have an expected life of 1,200,000 miles and lower cost than NMC. Li Sulfur plus graphene batteries at 2X the energy density of LFP are 80% of the cost and trending to 50% of the cost. About 60% lower CO2 for production. These are in production today.
So I would favor more investment in lowering EV cost and CO2 in production.
Today the energy cost of EV trucks is lower than diesel. As renewable energy grows the cost savings will increase.
Having said that the transition to EV will take decades so better diesel benefits over the next 40 years is welcomed.
