The technology has hit a tipping point. It is now cheaper to produce and deliver energy with wind solar and battery. And the cost improvements will continue. As to EV, for commercial light vehicles EV are less expensive. So for 50% of fossil fuel consumption it is game over. For most the shift to EV out has been because they are more fun to drive. The climate problem started early investment but now the the shift to clean renewable energy is driven by lower cost and better.
By the way, why do you own a cell phone now and did not in 1988. Right technology drove down cost and increased benefits.

No sacrifice needed except vote for continued investment in R and D, and investment with a high return.
