The solution to WMD, if you want to improve the quality of life for mankind, is to focus and unite around two messages and only two messages. Otherwise, there is no hope of any message moving votes to counter the propaganda of US oligarchs seeking more and more power. The messages need to be short term benefits of supporting law makers who are interested in the greater good by supporting at least two of the many areas that benefit all. The oligarch’s propaganda wins with many distractions, the sound bite of the day, followed by the new sound bite of the next day where the tribe or cult is told they are threatened so vote for my MAGA cult law maker, who’s sole interest is laws to profit their patrons. The messages must win votes from the current MAGA cult voters so must be for laws that benefit them in the short term and or with clear unambiguous consequences. You don’t need to win a large percentage, 10% or so in most states.
I would suggest focus on the benefits of clean energy lowering energy cost today with more coming tomorrow. Do not talk about climate change as those benefits are decades away, clean energy benefits can be seen today in cost savings and reducing inflation and removing the threat from Russia, as they fund new nuclear weapons aimed at defeating the defenses of the USA.
Second, I would focus on the trends and actual laws that will place all women of child bearing age in fear. See my medium article on this issue “The abortion enforcement paradox”. The Texas vigilante law on abortion is one example where women who have a miscarriage could see their family members face a law suit. All women of child bearing age face the risk of a miscarriage and therefore the risk of proposed and recently passed laws against abortion, no exceptions and against contraception as MAGA cult believes life begins at conception so contraception should be illegal.
Why is WMD so prevalent? Basically the trend is to less labor and lower cost to produce goods means that people can live better with less income, the lowest income folks live better than the high income earners of the 1950’s. So if work is not seen as necessary, what distractions can fill your life? You feel safe but humans need to belong to a tribe. So you join or focus on your tribe and that access is through social media. Where oligarchs can spend pennies to win support that increases their power. In short the WMD is a real threat to our quality of life but is consequence of automation and driving down the need for labor, so folks look for meaning and distractions and can be exploited or convinced to that actions that are not in their real life best interests (Oh the terrible injustice of wearing masks to lower the risk to your family and so on….).
