The most critical charging infrastructure is installation of level two charging in apartments and condo buildings. Why?

  1. If a product is easy to use it will succeed, if not it won’t. Plug in at home like your phone. That’s easy.
  2. The average miles driven in US is 13,500. Except for the occasional trip, 97% of charging needs can be met with at home charging. I drove a 250 mile range EV for one year, 20,000 mile and stopped 9 days out of 365 to use a charger away from home. I spend 5 seconds each night plugging in at home. Easy
  3. One 400 amp electrical panel can service 50 EV’s. How? The EV owner spends $600 on hardware that supports sharing with 5 EV such that 60 miles are added each night on the shared 50 amp circuit. For the rare case that more than 60 miles are needed, leave the EV plugged in during the day or use off site charging.

Public funding or loans or… to encourage EV charging dedicated to each EV owner in apartments and condo’s will be 100 times more effective then public charging for growing EV sales.
