The electric utilities see an opportunity to grab a $trillion market, energy for transportation from the gas and diesel industry. That is where the investment money is pouring in for electric grid upgrades.
As to home charging, 60% of households in the US live in homes that can provide a 40 amp 220 circuit, enough to charge EV overnight for 250 miles of driving. Only 0.5% of US car trips are over 150 miles.
