Tesla model Y and 3 are being used now to save police departments enough money to hire 20% more police officers. There are 77,000 police cars in the US. As you might know Tesla drive trains have an expected life of 1,000,000 miles. LFP batteries have a life approaching 1,000,000 miles. The range of 250 miles match’s police needs of 100 to 175 miles a day. So saving in fuel, maintenance and replacement cost (life much longer then gas cars) nets out to $5 Billion savings every 12 years. Once this is understood by police departments 100% will convert to EV. There are many use cases like this where the economics are will be too compelling. About 20% of light vehicles consume 50% of fossil fuel. Once these cases move to EV, gas consumption will drop by 50%. My point is these application will demand EV for about 60 million vehicles. So 12 million a year for 5 years. Perhaps from 2025 to 2030. I think the industry can do this with LFT batteries don’t you.
