Speaking as one from USNuclear Navy, yes Nuclear Power is cost effective but political mind set does not allow for rational decisions. In US the propaganda game is set by the right with 95% focus on outrage of the day, near zero on trade offs for improving our country. So until the politics shift more time to rational discussion on energy, nuclear power remains tarred as dangerous and not in my backyard.
