Some wish full thinking. Drones are playing a significant role for directing weapons. I think they could also play a major roll in clearing mines. After clearing a path in mine fields, many mines will remain, and current equipment is not very efficient.

A drone with ground penetration radar could map a mine field quickly. However it needs to GPS locate each mine to within 1 cm. How? If you only use satellites, GPS is not that accurate. However you can add a GPS beacon on the ground and location accuracy becomes as precise as you need.

After mapping all the mine locations, another set of drones can physically mark mine locations from the GPS map or drop precise explosives to destroy the mines.

Just a pipe dream now but the total mine clean up will take years. Would be good to start making the process efficient.
