Of course religious zealots are pushing their dogma to exercise power. Perhaps they are aware of that, perhaps they fool themselves by wrapping their behavior as Gods work (another manifestation of power in their mind).
The solution is more balanced folks need to speak up and celebrate win win to drown out the win lose religious mind set.
