LFP and Sodium batteries expected life at or near 1,000,000 miles. EV drive trains have an expected life of 1,000,000 miles. Who wants an EV that last that long? Commercial applications like delivery vans, police cars. Postal delivery trucks. In commercial applications the price premium compared to gas is 0 or flipped, EV cheaper. An example police cars can be retired every 3 to 4 years, EV can last 12. And the savings in fuel and maintenance are crazy good. Staying with police, 25 MPG average for gas prices at $4/gal. Switch tEV for 100 to 140 MPG for EV for 125 miles a day, 8 to 12 hours a day constant use, the savings over gas can pay for an extra officer in a fleet of 10 cars. Savings on commercial use cases will drive a surge in EV sales, all ready started. Those use cases consume 50% of fossil fuel but are only 20% of light vehicles. Add in heavy trucks and another 25% reduction in fossil fuel. In 10 to 12 years 75% of fossil fuel consumption goes to zero.
