I like the writing of Thomas Paine on the rights of man. The constitution defines a process but the will of the living is supreme. We owe nothing to the culture, norms and ignorance of past generations. The evolution of knowledge and even the changing priorities must be respected. Individual rights to free speech, life, liberty and beliefs in religion remain.
The rights of a mob organized by oligarchs must be held in check.
