I am far remove from reactor options. I was an instructor in Nuclear Power School so not in R and D. My light reading is there are several advances in safety and dealing with Nuclear waste. Not sure if location in silos would accommodate cooling but assuming we engineers knew for sure best option you still face NIMBY. My sense is history of nuclear power risk is lower then coal and gas if you add up all health factors and risk and we should be using more N plants.
