Contrast the work of Richard Feynman (old school teaching) to republican talking points. It seems many folks are buying into mass hysteria rather then data driven improvements. Perhaps we are too successful too rich. Of course the mental obsession with a cause like climate change can also blind folks to what is immediately better. It happens on the left and right. Why promote to dangers of climate change when only 40% of people think it will affect them. But clean energy can deliver lower energy costs, better transportation better heating and cooling now. Also less risk of Middle East wars (lower oil profits). But nearly zero effort is made promoting short term (10 year) benefits, which will also benefit climate.

I think for folks it feels good to have a cause, to join others in judging good and bad, rather then ask what path leads to better. The mental mantra feel good so folks do it to the exclusion of a quest for better, step by step. If so why go back to old school proven methods that are not in demand.
