Besides wind solar and battery are cheaper then coal and gas today and getting cheaper as the industries scale up, in many segments the need for energy is going down with more efficient products such as heat pumps and EV. Economics are driving the change but smart policy helps as well. For example funding improvements in heat pumps and batteries. The McKinsey report is a bit silly given the clear cost advantages now in play.
