Assume it takes 3 to 5 years to qualify a new battery technology and ramp up production in - to 2 years. This would be close to the cycle of semiconductor. Each new generation semi process takes about 4 years. But in the middle of that process another technological leap starts. So every 2 years or so the price and performance improves. I wonder if battery evolution will follow a similar cycle. Perhaps not as reducing the price or improving performance for EV likely will not drive sales every higher once range hits sat 600 miles and cost drop to $1000. Maybe by 2040?
