A Tesla with 50% charge can run the heat pump for more then a week even in cold weather.
It is true that the battery capacity drops or the order of 50% in extreme cold unless your run the heat pump to also keep the battery temperature within a safe operating band.

Note that in Norway 95% of new car sales are EV. I think it gets cold in Norway. They have been happy with EV s for several years.
