3D printing with cement might make more optimal designs practical. As to steel 3D printing is possible (lasers for heat). So cement steel laminate and optimized shape. Of all this can be simulated (including material properties). My engineering started in 1970. So many more tools for today’s engineers.
I am a EE so not really knowledgeable in this area but seems a likely path to explore.
