1. The life cycle cost of EVs is cheaper then gas and diesel. That is for capital cost, fuel and maintenance. The bottom line gas and diesel are more expensive.
2. As to pollution you are likely including the CO2,needed to build solar, wind and batteries. The same sources also power home heating, cooking, etc. As the charge for EV can be off peak, their is zero additional CO2 due to EVs.
3. In terms of CO2,associated with battery and EV production the latest EV batteries offer close to 1,000,000 mile expected life and the drive train has proven 1,000,000 life so you need to build 3 to 4 gas cars over the life of one EV.
